Beckie’s Gingersnaps

​2 cups flour    
2 teaspoons baking soda        
1 teaspoon ground ginger      
1 teaspoon ground cloves      
1 teaspoon cinnamon 
¾ cup shortening       
1 cup sugar     
¼ cup molasses          
1 egg
 
1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Whisk together first five ingredients and set aside. Cream shortening and sugar until fluffy; beat in molasses and egg. Beat in flour mixture until smooth. Roll dough into balls, roll in additional sugar and bake 10-12 minutes. Cool 5 minutes on sheet before removing to racks to cool completely.
